I have 3 princess flower trees about 12 feet high and they have never been properly trimmed or fertilized. They are very leggy of course. I'm thinking of trimming them way back and trying to care for them properly. What do you recommend in the way of fertilizing? Thanks.

I would prune it. Princess flowers get spindly and ugly if they are not trimmed regularly. How far back to prune it is up to you. Mine has died nearly to ground after freezes at least two times and it has always grown back, so it will probably grow back from even a severe prune.

I have two Princess growths. One is a tree and the other is well, spiderlike in the front. I am thinking of pruning it all the way down to about 3 feet. It is now about 12 feet and well ugly. What do you think? Love your blog.
