I purchased a bartlett pear in August 2010. Well, it is blooming this year and oh I do hope for some good eating of the first fruit..I purchased it at lowes and the fruit tree suggested chemicals too. It is a very tall lovely straight tree! I have given it mushroom compost and some fish emulsion....I know it will need watering...what other suggestions can you offer? Like did you prune yours...I am on the EASTCOAST..SOUTH CAROLINA. It is in a pot (a very large one. I purchased from LOWES the required tree (stuff) to keep away the bugs and that kind of insects...Oh I do hope for success! I am watering it and talking to it also..It has flowers on it..I planted it last year 2010 at the end of the summer in August.I have put mushroom compost on it this year as well as some fish emulsion.
